Brunch @ The County Seat Kitchen

Derby is over so what better way to cheer me up?  Remember this fantastic brunch I had at this little gem of a restaurant in Lebanon, KY.  For those of you who know me, my favorite meal is brunch.  Basic, right?  I don’t care, brunch is delicious and I could eat it everyday of the week!  So when visiting my in-laws I was thrilled when they said let’s go to brunch!  Yes, please!  Lebanon, KY is  a beautiful city right outside of Springfield.  Whenever my husband I go to visit I always feel relaxed and that I’m getting away from the hustle of the city in Louisville.

The County Seat Kitchen is known for farm to table cooking and their bourbon!  That’s a good combination to have!  They also serve dinner if you’re not wanting to brunch it up.  It was a buffet style brunch and everything tasted fresh.  The cornbread mafia waffles were such a unique item I went back for seconds!  Add some greens and eggs in a basket and you’re in for a treat.  I had to try the bloody mary because it was topped with local country ham.

Did I mention they had unlimited bacon?  Would you like another bloody mary? And some more bacon?  Yes and Yes.  The owner/chef, Gwyn Artz, is from New York City and she was very friendly and talented.  The next time we go back to visit the in-laws we are going for dinner!

Now onto my newest treat I baked…Derby Pie Cupcakes!  Thanks to Brown Eyed Baker derby pie cupcakes

for the recipe!  I enjoyed making these bourbon filled cupcakes for a Derby party.  I’m new to baking from scratch and the recipe was fun and easy!  The homemade bowl of bourbon buttercream frosting was to die for!  Drizzle a butter bourbon glaze on top and enjoy, the flavors were incredible!  I even had one for breakfast with coffee, cake for breakfast! I will definitely be baking these again for next Derby!

My post Derby blues is almost over, and I’ll be onto the next treat and the next brunch!

Cheers!

My Favorite Sundays

My favorite Sunday mornings are the ones paired with brunch!  My hubby and I decided to try Noosh Nosh tucked behind chef’s Anoosh’s other popular dining spot, Anoosh Bistro.  It didn’t take much to convince me to order a bloody mary when the waiter said it was a build your own bloody mary bar.  Sold!  Celery, bacon, olives, pickles, pile it on high! The only thing missing was a mini grilled cheese!

Too busy for brunch on Sunday?  Go during the week, brunch is served everyday!  Next time I’ll have to try what was at the other table…Smoked salmon omelette, yum!  Or for the sweet tooth in me..French Toast Foster.  Already craving brunch again 🙂

Cheers!

Pop the Moscato!

I have a sweet tooth almost all the time!  There’s a joke in my family that my mom would always order dessert first at a restaurant, so sugar is in my genes.  I had never baked with alcohol before, except for cooking wine so I was excited when my friend shared this recipe with me…Pink Champagne Cupcakes!

The champagne made the cupcakes extra light and fluffy and the buttercream frosting was just the right amount of sweet.  I made these for a surprise bridal shower for my sister-in-law.  They would also be great for a birthday or bachelorette party.  I went to Zulily to get the adorable cupcakes are my cocktails! liners, toppers and favor boxes! So pop the moscato and get to baking!  Cheers!FullSizeRender(1)

Snickerdoodle Cake

Welcome to Cremebrelace!  Something sweet for my first post, I’ve always had a sweet tooth.  My mom would always order dessert first at a restaurant to make sure they didn’t run out LOL, so I definitely get it from her!   I made this cake for my husband’s birthday and it was delicious! I love snickerdoodle cookies so I knew I would love it in CAKE!  Instead of ice cream with it we had Talenti Sea Salt Caramel gelato–YUM!
