Derby is over so what better way to cheer me up? Remember this fantastic brunch I had at this little gem of a restaurant in Lebanon, KY. For those of you who know me, my favorite meal is brunch. Basic, right? I don’t care, brunch is delicious and I could eat it everyday of the week! So when visiting my in-laws I was thrilled when they said let’s go to brunch! Yes, please! Lebanon, KY is a beautiful city right outside of Springfield. Whenever my husband I go to visit I always feel relaxed and that I’m getting away from the hustle of the city in Louisville.
The County Seat Kitchen is known for farm to table cooking and their bourbon! That’s a good combination to have! They also serve dinner if you’re not wanting to brunch it up. It was a buffet style brunch and everything tasted fresh. The cornbread mafia waffles were such a unique item I went back for seconds! Add some greens and eggs in a basket and you’re in for a treat. I had to try the bloody mary because it was topped with local country ham.
Did I mention they had unlimited bacon? Would you like another bloody mary? And some more bacon? Yes and Yes. The owner/chef, Gwyn Artz, is from New York City and she was very friendly and talented. The next time we go back to visit the in-laws we are going for dinner!
Now onto my newest treat I baked…Derby Pie Cupcakes! Thanks to Brown Eyed Baker
for the recipe! I enjoyed making these bourbon filled cupcakes for a Derby party. I’m new to baking from scratch and the recipe was fun and easy! The homemade bowl of bourbon buttercream frosting was to die for! Drizzle a butter bourbon glaze on top and enjoy, the flavors were incredible! I even had one for breakfast with coffee, cake for breakfast! I will definitely be baking these again for next Derby!
My post Derby blues is almost over, and I’ll be onto the next treat and the next brunch!
Cheers!
